AlternaBus

AlternaBus facilitates commuter ride sharing. Cities and commuters are confronting an infrastructure problem that is getting worse each year: too many cars, not enough road. Most commuters drive solo, and most commuters are very reluctant to give up the flexibility that comes with coming and going as they please. AlternaBus attempts to lower the barriers to ride sharing by providing on-demand rides. Because most drivers follow a predictable daily commute, we can leverage their existing pattern, without asking a driver to make any change to their behavior. AlternaBus generates a schedule for each driver, and allows riders to purchase tickets for any leg of a commute on any day, either in advance or on demand by browsing the available routes and schedules. AlternaBus handles all the logistics of scheduling for drivers and riders. Besides the scheduling and ticketing, AlternaBus will handle transferring fares for the trip (if any) between rider and driver.
